Katherine Starr

Associate

Katherine graduated from Benedictine College in 2021. In Atchison, Kansas, she received her BA in Political Science while also serving as a three-year student athlete on the cheerleading team. Through Benedictine, she spent a summer abroad, studying in Florence, Italy and site-seeing in Greece. Katherine returns to Benedictine frequently, speaking to Political Science classes and serving on young alumni panels to introduce more students to the world of government affairs.

Katherine started at 1861 Consulting as an intern for the 2021 session. Through her internship she learned the political process and developed an interest for lobbying. Before her internship at 1861, she previously worked on a Congressional campaign where she gained valuable experience communicating with constituents and organizing events.

As an Associate with Catalyst, Katherine provides support to all members of the team through research, committee monitoring, and scheduling. She plans and coordinates events during the Legislative Session to help clients build relationships with elected officials. Katherine is also in charge of the Catalyst Kansas internship program. Through this program she recruits and mentors our Legislative Interns, ensuring that they have a great learning experience. She continues to observe the political process while developing lobbying strategies.
